This four-episode special examines the historic relationship between Black and Jewish American communities in all its complexity, possibility, and depth. Its purpose for lifting up this important but under-told history: to create shared understanding so new Black-Jewish coalitions can form and thrive. Hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr., this series chronicles the complex relationship of the Black and Jewish communities -- both uniquely close and uniquely fraught. With honesty, humor, and attention to the many experiences within and across these communities, it will bring forward a rich history to see what it teaches us about the American experiment and the promise of a multiracial, multicultural democracy.
