Bess Truman had skill and style in the kitchen. From macaroni and cheese to meat loaf, her recipes were sure to satisfy. Join archivist Tammy K. Williams as we do a deep dive into Mrs. Truman's recipe box. During this History Happy Hour, we will talk about recipes that Mrs. Truman gave out and received, food trends in the 1940's and 1950's, and some of the Truman family favorite foods and meals. Carolyn and Sean from Happy Hour will be on hand to serve a thematic wine, beer and spirits tasting before the discussion.
This installment of the popular History Happy Hour series will be held at the Truman Library Institute office located on the campus of Rockhurst University. Parking is available in the Rockhurst University parking garage adjacent to the office. Please park in any spot labeled either “Truman Library Institute” or “Retail Guest” on the lower level of the garage. If no spots are available in that section, you may press the red “Emergency” button to speak to a Rockhurst University security staff member who will raise the bar for you to park in any free spot on an upper level.
Doors will open at 3:45 p.m. The program will begin with a networking time from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m., and the program will begin at 4:15.
