Movie Screening: The Great War, Part 2

Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum
Independence, MO

Thursday, October 11, 2018 - 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CDT

Registration

Relive the stories of World War I through unpublished diaries and letters from nurses, journalists and doughboys in this three-part film series that originally aired last year on PBS. Called “Enormously absorbing” by The Wall Street Journal, The Great War tells the captivating story of the bloodiest war the world had ever seen and how this conflict turned the United States into a dominant player on the international stage.

Join the National Park Service and the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum for the second installment of this three-part film. While the film was created as a miniseries, attendees are welcome to join in for any part they are able to attend. A staff member will give a brief introduction to the film that provides context for anyone who missed an earlier screening. The final part will be shown as part of the Truman Library’s Veterans Day event on Sunday, November 11.

This screening is presented in conjunction with ‘Heroes or Corpses’: Captain Truman in World War I, the Truman Library’s special exhibition on Harry Truman’s military service and how it helped set him on the path toward the presidency.
