Founded in 1863 as the Long Island Historical Society, Brooklyn Historical Society is a nationally recognized urban history center with extensive resources for family history research. Collection materials available to view in BHS’s interior landmarked reading room include published family histories, church records, manuscript papers, city directories, photographs, newspapers and more.
Reference Librarian Cecily Dyer will discuss how to conduct genealogy research at BHS, from basic search and research organization strategies, to how to identify, request and view BHS’s unique materials.
