Notes |
*California appointed its electors based on Congressional districts rather than on the State’s total popular vote. **By law the date for electors to meet and cast their votes for the 1880 election was December 1, the first Wednesday of December. Georgia's electors met and cast their votes on December 8, the second Wednesday of December. Despite the irregularity, Congress counted Georgia's electoral votes. If they had not been counted, Hancock would have received 144 electoral votes. |
