Memorandum of Telephone Conversation between President Bush and Chancellor Helmut Kohl of Germany, October 3, 1990
On October 3, 1990, East and West Germany were reunified, one year after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This memo transcibes the brief conversation which occured between President George Bush and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, describing the reunification celebration.On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan gave this historic speech at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate in which he implored Soviet General Secretary Gorbachev: "Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."
