Presidential Proclamation Commemorating the One Hundred and Seventy-fifth Anniversary of the Founding of the United States Coast Guard

Presidential Proclamation 3664 of August 3, 1965, by President Lyndon B. The one hundred and seventy-fifth anniversary of the United States Coast Guard on August 4, 1965, was commemorated in this Proclamation by President Lyndon B. Johnson. A precursor to the Coast Guard, the Revenue Cutter Service was created on August 4, 1790, and it was later merged with the Life-Saving Service to form the U.S. Coast Guard in 1915.
