Panoramic Photographs on Display at National Archives at College Park

College Park, MD. . . The National Archives at College Park recently opened an exhibition entitled "The Long View -- Panoramic Photographs from the National Archives." The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is located at the National Archives and Records Administration at 8601 Adelphi Road, on the "B" level, adjacent to the auditorium and lecture rooms. The exhibit will remain open through Spring of 1999. Hours are Monday and Wednesday: 8:45 A.M. - 5 P.M.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8:45 A.M. - 9 P.M.; Saturday: 8:45 A.M.- 4:45 P.M. The public may call (202) 501-5000 for recorded information about public programs. The hearing impaired should call TDD (202) 501-5404 for information.

"The Long View" features more than 20 panoramic photos, dating from 1864 through 1997, covering a wide variety of subjects including an image of Native Americans at the 1915 Exposition in San Francisco and one of the salvage operation of the USS Maine in Havana harbor. Additional materials, such as military maps and patent drawing relating to the photographs, are also included in the exhibit.
