National Archives' NHPRC Awards Archival Fellowship for 1998-1999

Washington, DC. . . The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) is pleased to announce that Robert N. Matuozzi has been selected as its Fellow in Archival Administration for 1998-99. The host institution for 1998-99 is the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ.

Mr. Matuozzi most recently worked at the Holland Library, Washington State University, in Pullman, WA, as a manuscripts librarian. While at the Mudd Library, Mr. Matuozzi will participate in all aspects of work at the library, including preparing the library’s annual report, participating in staff meetings, working with donors, preparing grant proposals, and budget development. For the technical project, he will undertake a technical analysis of the library’s public services unit to determine how the physical structure of the building hampers the reception, security, materials management, and photocopy operations of the library. In addition to the analytical report, Mr. Matuozzi will create a bibliography of existing publications relating to design of archival repositories and present several alternative plans for reconfiguration of space in Mudd Library.

The NHPRC, the grant-making affiliate of the National Archives and Records Administration, currently awards one annual fellowship in archival administration. The fellowship is intended to expand administrative training opportunities for professional archivists with two to five years of professional archival experience. NHPRC fellows participate in a variety of daily administrative and managerial activities, from budget planning and implementation to long-range planning and the development of administrative procedures and policies.
