Media Alert: Eisenhower Library Symposium to be held
at the National Archives>

WHAT:

A symposium entitled "Spies and Disloyalty: The Internal Security Dilemma During the Eisenhower Presidency," examines the dilemma of balancing the needs of internal and national security with the rights of the individual during the cold war. Sponsored by the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, the Eisenhower Foundation, the Herbert Brownell Memorial Lecture Series, with the assistance of the Eisenhower World Affairs Institute.

WHEN:

Thursday, February 24, 2000, registration 1:30 p.m.; Program 2-4:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Theater, National Archives Building Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, Washington, DC.

WHO:

The panel consists of four experts: William P. Rogers, former U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Secretary of State; Dr. H. W. Brands, Coordinator, Program in Foreign Relations, George Bush School of Government, Texas A&M; Dr. Jack Holl, Chair, Department of History, Kansas State University; and Dr. Gerald Haines, Chief Historian, Center for the Study of Intelligence, CIA.
