National Archives Adds "Treasures of Congress" to Online Exhibit Hall

College Park, MD. . ."Treasures of Congress," a new major exhibition in the National Archives Rotunda, can now be found online. The new virtual exhibit features 105 images of documents, drawings and photographs and two audio files chronicling the history of the U.S. Congress. It is located on the web at http://www.archives.gov/exhibit-hall/treasures_of_congress/index.htmlexhall/treasuresofcongress.

Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the move of the Congress to Washington, DC, the exhibit showcases the central roles that the House and Senate have played, by taking visitors behind the scenes into the halls and conference rooms of the Capitol during crucial turning points in American history.

"Treasures of Congress" draws upon the holdings of the National Archives and Records Administration's Center for Legislative Archives and presents a small sampling of the landmark documents created by, or delivered to Congress. Congressional documents in this exhibit are displayed through the courtesy of the U.S. House of Representatives and the United States Senate, which retain ownership of their historical collections.

The "Treasures of Congress" online exhibit was designed by ARS Interactive, of Alexandria, Virginia. To visit this and other online exhibits visit http://www.archives.gov/exhibit-hall/.
