Get An Early Start On July Fourth Stories
WHERE:
Room 105, Archivist's Reception Room National Archives Building, Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW.WHAT:
WHEN:1. Interview the experts about plans for the new National Archives when the Rotunda reopens in 2003.
2. Film, photograph, and interview calligrapher Brody Neuenschwander who will demonstrate 18th century calligraphic techniques used on the Declaration of Independence, including the making of iron gall ink and the curing of feathers to make quills. (Mr. Neuenschwander will perform demonstrations throughout the afternoon on July 4th.)
3. View the demonstration of National Archives new web site www.archives.gov featuring our special interactive section on the 4th of July.
4. Pick-up clip reel of footage of the raising and lowering of the Charters of Freedom from the perspective of the vault-never-before seen footage, available for the first time, in preparation for the final raising and lowering of the documents on July 4th.
