Films at the National Archives in May and June
Washington, DC . . . In May and June, the National Archives and Records Administration presents film screenings highlighting the Kennedy Administration, World War II, and Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren.
The screenings will be held in Room 105 of the National Archives Building, Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, and in the auditorium at the National Archives at College Park, located at 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD. All programs are free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the National Archives at College Park. Due to limited seating in Room 105 of the National Archives Building, reservations are recommended, call (202) 501-5050, ext. 296. The times and dates may be verified by calling the National Archives public events line at (201) 501-5000. The hearing impaired should call TDD (202) 501-5404 for information.

Friday, May 10 - John F. Kennedy
John F. Kennedy: Years of Lightning, Day of Drums, released in 1964. To commemorate the 85th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's birth this month; the National Archives presents this acclaimed documentary produced by the United States Information Agency. Actor Gregory Peck narrates this poignant examination of the first 1000 days of the Kennedy Administration, focusing on President Kennedy's accomplishments in the areas of civil rights, the space race, and foreign policy. (85 minutes.) Noon.
Friday, May 31 - Memorial Day
The Stillwell Road, released in 1945. One of the best documentaries to emerge from the Second World War, this film documents the construction of a vital supply road through Burma, despite enemy attacks and natural obstacles. Produced by the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Narrated by Ronald Reagan. (53 minutes.) Noon.

Friday, June 7 - The Supreme Court
Super Chief: The Life and Legacy of Earl Warren, released in 1989. This film is a portrait of the controversial justice who dramatically changed Constitutional interpretation while on the bench of the Supreme Court. 1989 Academy Award Nominee for Best Documentary. A film by Bill Jersey and Judith Leonard. (88 minutes.) Noon.
