February Genealogy Workshops at the National Archives
Washington, DC. . . The National Archives and Records Administration will hold genealogy workshops relating to Beginning Genealogy Research, African American Genealogy, and Italian Genealogy. The fee for each workshop is $15, payable at the door by check or exact amount in cash. Advance registration is required; call 202-501-6694.
The genealogy workshops will take place in Room 105 at the National Archives Building, Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, from 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. The public may verify times and dates by calling 202 -501-6694.
Tuesday, February 12 - BEGINNING GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH
Claire Prechtel-Kluskens, staff archivist will teach the basics of genealogical
research at the National Archives.
Thursday, February 21 - AFRICAN AMERICAN GENEALOGY
Reginald Washington, staff archivist, discusses using Federal records (census records, military service and pension files, Freedman's Bureau records, and others) for African American genealogical research.
Tuesday, February 26 - ITALIAN GENEALOGY
Guest lecturer John P. Colletta, Ph.D., will explain how to use U.S. federal, state, and local records and local resources in Italy to trace immigrant ancestors from Italy.
