National Archives Co-Sponsors Lecture And Panel Discussion About The Medal of Honor

Washington, DC . . .At 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 13th, the National Archives and Records Administration will cohost a lecture and panel discussion based on Peter Collier's book, Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty (Artisan, 2003). A panel of Navy and Marine Corps recipients of the Medal of Honor will follow Mr. Collier's talk, participating in a question and answer session with the audience.

The program is free and open to the public and will take place in the U.S. Navy Memorial Theater, at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW. Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty profiles most of the living recipients of the Medal of Honor with an entry for each recipient, including a photo portrait at the time of the award, a summary of the medal-winning action and in some cases, the recipient's later career. Following the lecture, Mr. Collier will be joined by Medal of Honor Recipients Thomas Hudner (USN) Korean War, Brian Thacker (USA) Vietnam, and Harvey Barnum (USMC) Vietnam for a panel discussion and answering questions from the audience.

This is the first of a three-part lecture and panel discussion series devoted to the Medal of Honor. This event is co-sponsored by The Medal of Honor Foundation, the Navy Historical Center, the Naval Historical Foundation, the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, and the National Archives.
