John Roberts Files To Be Released At the National Archives At College Park
Press Release · Tuesday, July 26, 2005
Washington, DC. . . By 3 PM today, the National Archives will open approximately 15,000 pages of office files of Judge John Roberts when he served as Special Assistant to the Attorney General, September 1981 through November 1982. The Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein announced today that these materials will be available in the 6th Floor Research Room at the College Park facility, located at 8601 Adelphi Road.
Copies are being delivered to the Department of Justice and the Senate Judiciary Committee. The copying process has taken more time than expected. Copying original records requires additional care, and insuring the accuracy of the sets for the Department of Justice and the Senate Judiciary Committee is time consuming.
To accommodate media interest in this material, the research room at the National Archives at College Park will remain open until 9 PM this evening.
To accommodate the anticipated demand, each news organization may have access to only one box at a time. Scanners and laptops may be used. All researchers must have a current National Archives researcher's card. Clean research room rules will apply.
