National Archives to Announce Results of Audit of the Withdrawal of Records from Public Access

WHAT: A press briefing to announce the results of an audit undertaken by the National Archives Information Security and Oversight Office (ISOO). The focus of the audit was to examine records that were withdrawn from public access since 1995 (the initial onset of Executive Order 12958) because they were alleged to contain classified national security information. This audit was initiated in early January 2006 based upon researchers’ concerns.
