A Tribute to President Ford

The staff of the National Archives joins me in sending the Ford family our heartfelt sympathy. President Ford was a man of enormous courage whose moral compass steered this country back onto a steady course soon after he became President. He was a consensus builder and a healer.

Since President Ford left the White House, he has been a leader and an advisor to the entire Presidential library family. He will also be remembered for working closely with the other former Presidents to advocate ideas and policies in the broad national interest. Although a passionate and successful partisan throughout his career in politics, his post-Presidential years will be remembered for his deep commitment to bi-partisanship and political civility. Americans will miss his wise and gracious counsel in addressing national issues.
