National Archives Holds an "American Conversation" with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, June 8

Washington, DC…Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein will host an “American Conversation” with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Friday, June 8, at 7 p.m. Providing a retrospective on his life and career, Senator Reid will discuss influences on his life before and since entering politics.

Senator Reid has been an elected official from the state of Nevada for over 30 years—including two terms served in the U.S. House of Representatives, followed by his election to the U.S. Senate in 1986 and three successive re-elections. Reid is the author of Searchlight: The Camp That Didn’t Fail, a detailed history of his hometown, Searchlight, Nevada.

The “American Conversations” series is one of the National Archives’ public programs and focuses on American history and identity. Those featured in previous “Conversations” include Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, historian Lynne Cheney, filmmaker Ken Burns, RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman, and historian John Hope Franklin. Events in this series are held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, located on the National Mall at Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW and is fully accessible.
