More Information
Washington, DC…Thursday, September 20, 2007, will be the final day that the 1297 Magna Carta will be on display in the West Rotunda Gallery of the National Archives Building. This Magna Carta was purchased by the Perot Foundation in 1984 and loaned to the National Archives where it was first exhibited in May 1985. The document then toured the United States and was returned to the National Archives in 1988, where it has been displayed except during periods of renovation to the National Archives Building.
The National Archives is grateful to the Perot Foundation for sharing this founding document of English common law with the public for 20 years.
