National Archives Commemorates 65th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Attack with December 7th Documentary Screening

Washington, DC…At noon on Thursday, December 7, the National Archives and the Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film at the National Archives commemorate the 65th anniversary of the attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor, which propelled the United States into World War II, with a screening of the rarely seen 85-minute version of John Ford’s documentary, December 7th. Produced by the Naval Photographic Branch, Office of Strategic Services, the 20-minute version of this film won an Academy Award in 1943.

The December 7 screening will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building located on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, Washington, DC. The December 12 screening (35-minute version) will be held in Room G-24 of the National Archives Research Center, enter on 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, at 11 a.m. The December 14 screening (35-minute version) will be held at the National Archives at College Park located at 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD, at 11 a.m.
