The National Archives Presents an American Conversation with E.L. Doctorow on September 25

Washington, DC…On Thursday, September 25, at 7 PM, Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein welcomes award-winning novelist E.L. Doctorow for an “American Conversation.” The program will take place in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building.

E.L. Doctorow’s work depicts various eras and personalities in American history and has been published in 30 languages. His novels include The March, City of God, Welcome to Hard Times, The Book of Daniel, Ragtime, Loon Lake, World’s Fair, Billy Bathgate, and The Waterworks. He currently holds the Lewis and Loretta Glucksman Chair of English and American Letters at New York University.

The “American Conversations” series focuses on American history and identity. Senators Harry Reid, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Kay Bailey Hutchison; Former First Lady Barbara Bush; and David McCullough, are among those featured in previous programs, some of which may be viewed on the National Archives web site.

The National Archives Building in Washington, DC is located on the National Mall at Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW and is fully accessible. All programs in the “American Conversation” series are free and open to the public. Seating for this program is on a first-come, first-served basis.
