Free Screening of Presidential Film Favorite
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the National Archives
Washington, DC…As part of its Presidential Film Favorites series, the National Archives presents a special screening of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937, 83 minutes) on Saturday, November 17, at noon. A favorite film of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, this timeless classic has enchanted audiences for decades. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs tells the story of a beautiful princess who flees from her wicked stepmother and finds friendship with seven dwarfs and love with a Prince. The film, which won an honorary Academy Award®, was Walt Disney’s first full-length animated feature in color. A 35mm print of the film will be screened. Rated G. The Presidential Film Favorites series is generously supported by Chevy Chase Bank.
The Presidential Film Favorites screenings are inspired by the multi-media exhibition “School House to White House: The Education of the Presidents.” “School House to White House” is a family-friendly exhibition focusing on the early education of American Presidents from Herbert Hoover through George W. Bush and features documents and artifacts from the National Archives’ Presidential Libraries. The exhibition runs through January 1, 2008 in the Lawrence F. O’Brien Gallery of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Exhibit Hall, Fall/Winter hours are 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., daily (except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).
The screening is free and open to the public and will be held in the WilliamG. McGowan Theater located in the National Archives Building on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, Washington, DC. Use the National Archives Building Special Events entrance on the corner of 7th Street and Constitution Avenue.
