Free Screening of Presidential Film Favorite
It’s a Wonderful Life at the National Archives

Washington, DC…As the final installment of its Presidential Film Favorites series, the National Archives presents a special screening of the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life (1946, 129 minutes) on Saturday, December 15, at noon. A favorite film of Ronald Reagan’s, It’s a Wonderful Life is the story of George Bailey (James Stewart), who has spent his life serving his community—often at the cost of his own happiness. When heaven sends his guardian angel, George sees how dismal life in his hometown would have been if he had never been born. Directed by Frank Capra. Not Rated.

The Presidential Film Favorites screenings are inspired by the multi-media exhibition “School House to White House:  The Education of the Presidents.” “School House to White House” is a family-friendly exhibition focusing on the early education of American Presidents from Herbert Hoover through George W. Bush and features documents and artifacts from the National Archives’ Presidential Libraries. The exhibition runs through January 1, 2008 in the Lawrence F. O’Brien Gallery of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Exhibit Hall, Fall/Winter hours are 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., daily (except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).

The screening is free and open to the public and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater located in the National Archives Building on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, Washington, DC. Use the National Archives Building Special Events entrance on the corner of 7th Street and Constitution Avenue. See our Visitor's Map for more information.
