NAE’s Digital Vaults nominated for the Webby “Oscars of the Internet” and more

 

Washington, DC…The brand new National Archives Experience online exhibit, the Digital Vaults continues to receive tremendous acclaim from top web and design competitions. The Digital Vaults has received three top awards, and has been nominated for two additional awards:

Adobe - “Site of the Day” award for February 29, 2008.
Adobe recognizes projects based on strong visual design, technical execution, usability, interesting and/or timely content, return on investment (ROI), and benefit to the organization, as well as overall innovative use of Adobe products.

Favorite Web site Awards (FWA) – “Site of the Day” award for March 30, 2008
FWA is an industry-recognized award program showcasing top web sites. This is the premier site for flash developers, and the “go to” site to see the latest web sites and web technology.

Communication Arts Design Competition – nomination for Information Design
Communication Arts Design Competition is one of the most prestigious competitions for creativity in graphic design. Selected by a jury of leading design professionals, the winning entries will be published both in the September/October issue of Communication Arts magazine, and in the November 2008 Design Annual.

Museums and the Web Conference – “Best of the Web - Museums” Honorable Mention
Museums and the Web recognizes the best work in museum web design and development in its annual “Best of the Web” competition. An international panel of judges reviews sites nominated by the community, and selects sites in a number of categories.

The 12th Annual Webby Awards – nomination under “Cultural Institutions”
Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet” by the New York Times, the Webby Awards are the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile web sites.

The Digital Vaults, an online interactive exhibit for the National Archives Experience, was launched in February, 2008. The Digital Vaults web site is conceived as a portal into the heart of the National Archives, and can be reached from the home page of the National Archives Experience. This new site uses visual records such as documents, photographs, and popular media to illustrate how materials come together in unexpected ways to tell the story of our country.
