National Archives to Screen "For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots" on September 15

Washington, DC…On Wednesday, September 15, at 7 p.m., the National Archives will present a screening and discussion of excerptsof For Love of Liberty: The Story of America’s Black Patriots. This event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. The public should use the Special Event entrance on Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW.

The Charles Guggenheim Center for the Documentary Film, in partnership with the Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust, presents a screening and discussion of excerpts from the critically acclaimed PBS miniseries that uses letters, diaries, and historical text, film, and photographs to document the sacrifices and accomplishments of African American servicemen and women since the earliest days of the republic.

Following the screening, Ron Armstead, the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust, will moderate a panel discussion including the film’s writer and director Frank Martin, the film’s historian Col. Krewasky Salter, and Regina Akers, historian at the Naval History and Heritage Command.
