National Archives Hosts Panel on Women in Academic Leadership March 24

Fourth Annual McGowan Forum on Women in Leadership

Washington, DC…On Thursday, March 24, at 7 PM, the National Archives will host a panel discussion on The Changing Roles of Women in Academic Leadership.This event is free and open to the public and will take place in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events Entrance, located on the National Mall at Constitution Ave. and 7th Street, NW.

Women continue to carve a path to the top of academic leadership in major colleges and universities. What are the challenges they have faced, and what changes have taken place in roles, expectations, opportunities, and obstacles for women in academic leadership? A panel of college presidents will discuss what it took to succeed and the future challenges for women in academe. Moderated by Donne Kampel, associate dean of faculty, Touro College, and author of Learning Leadership: Women Presidents of Colleges and Universities, panelists include Teresa A. Sullivan, President of the University of Virginia; Catharine Bond Hill, President of Vassar College; H. Kim Bottomly, President of Wellesley College; and S. Georgia Nugent, President of Kenyon College. This program is generously supported by the William G. McGowan Fund, Inc.
