“We were honored to share with President Obama the very first volume of his public papers,” said Archivist David Ferriero. “These papers, which represent a collaborative effort of the National Archives Office of the Federal Register and the Government Printing Office, open an avenue of exploration for the American public to keep track of their president and the federal government. Through this volume, they can relive some of the high points of the first year of his presidency.”
“It was an honor to represent and showcase the work of the men and women of the Government Printing Office when presenting this publication to President Obama,” said Public Printer Bill Boarman. “The Government Printing Office, National Archives, and Federal Register did a tremendous job working together in producing this important publication for the President and the American people in electronic and tangible formats.”
The Public Papers of the Presidents series includes volumes documenting the administrations of President’s Hoover, Truman and Eisenhower to Obama. The Public Papers of the President are published twice a year and cover a six-month period. The publication is edited and annotated by Office of the Federal Register and is the authoritative record of presidents used by scholars, researchers and the public.
