The National Archives Plays Foursquare!

Washington, DC…The National Archives, including the Presidential Libraries & Museums, today joined Foursquare, a location-based social media network that enables users to share tips and other information at geographic locations nationwide. With the help of Foursquare, the National Archives is reaching out to people where they live and where they visit, encouraging Archives fans to leave tips coast to coast!

By joining Foursquare, the National Archives invites users to learn more about this nation’s history via social media. Each tip highlights an interesting place or event related to the National Archives and the Presidential Libraries & Museums. Tips can be sent to smart phones based on user locations or viewed on the Web. The debut of the National Archives on Foursquare features tips relating to the Washington, DC, Kansas City, and Philadelphia National Archives locations. In the coming months, the National Archives’ Foursquare presence will expand to include regional Archives facilities nationwide.
The Presidential Libraries on Foursquare bring the life and times of each President alive through tips at each Library and Museum location, and at landmarks across the country. In celebration of the 2011 Ronald Reagan Centennial, an ongoing release of tips will highlight interesting places and events related to President Reagan.
With Foursquare, the National Archives further expands its social media presence, using these tools to further expand outreach and communication with the public.
