National Archives to Extend Weekday Hours for Research Rooms in the DC-Area
Press Release · Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Washington, DC

New research hours of 8:45 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. begin July 24

Beginning on Saturday, July 22, 2017, National Archives research rooms in Washington, DC, and College Park, MD will end Saturday research room operations. On Monday, July 24,  new, extended weekday (Monday–Friday) operating hours of 8:45 a.m.–5:45 p.m will begin. Operating hours for the National Archives Museum in Washington, DC, remain the same.

The change in hours will allow National Archives Research Services to more effectively align its resources and stay open longer on the days it serves the highest number of customers in its DC-area research rooms. Researcher visits on Saturdays have been declining over the past few years. Saturday hours at National Archives field locations were discontinued in November 2015.
