Nixon Presidential Library and Museum to host “VIET STORIES: Recollections & Regenerations” Exhibition

Special exhibition to feature 17 artists and more than 100 historical artifacts 


February 2, 2018 - The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum has partnered with Viet Stories: Vietnamese American Oral History project at the University of California, Irvine to host an art, history, and oral history exhibition, VIET STORIES: Recollections & Regenerations, from February 17 to May 28, 2018. 
 
The exhibition advances the Nixon Library’s efforts to promote understanding of the Vietnamese diaspora that followed at the end of President Nixon's administration. The exhibition remembers the past and captures the diversity and transformation of the current Vietnamese American community. VIET STORIES incorporates the history of refugees and immigrants from Vietnam through historical photographs, documents, artifacts, oral history interviews, and original artwork by prominent Vietnamese American artists.  
 
Highlighted artists include Ann Phong, Be Ky, Binh Danh, Chau Thuy, Dinh Q. Le, Ho Thanh Duc, Howard Hao Vy Tran, Long Nguyen, Nguyen Dong, Nguyen Khai, Nguyen Ly, Nguyen Thi Hop, NTuan, Tiffany Le, Thuy Linh Bennet Kang, Vi Ly, and, Viet Hung Nguyen. Also featured are fashion designers Bao Tranchi, Taryn Rose, and Thai Nguyen as well as jewelry artist Chi Huynh.
 
The exhibition will have wide appeal. Free education group tours are available by registering online (specify “VIET STORIES Exhibition” in “Remarks” section of form).  The general public is invited to the free VIET STORIES Exhibition Opening Day Ceremony on February 24, 2018 and with paid admission, visit the permanent galleries. There will also be free public programming in support of the exhibition: Film Screening in March of Journey from the Fall, followed by Q & A, and in May an “Art + Food” program. 
 
The museum is located at 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda, CA 92886. Cameras are allowed in the museum, but the use of tripods, selfie sticks, or flash is not permitted. Museum Hours:

  • Monday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
