Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: NARA GitHub Repository

We are happy to announce a new electronic records resource from NARA Research Services. The Electronic Records Division’s Accessioning Branch recently launched a new NARA GitHub repository to provide electronic records accessioning support tools to agencies. These tools will support agencies in their preparation of metadata and permanent electronic records for transfer to NARA. 

The first tool available is FileLister, which allows users to pull the file name, full file path, size in bytes, file extension, date modified, and SHA-256 Hash identifier. This tool was selected in response to agency requests for support with preparing metadata responsive to the requirements in NARA Bulletin 2015-04. 

We plan to add additional tools to the repository to further support agencies preparing permanent electronic records for transfer to the National Archives.
