Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: ERA 2.0 Requirement for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)

As NARA prepares for the rollout of ERA 2.0, federal agency records management (RM) staff should be aware of a new access restriction field requirement. The ERA 2.0 Transfer Request (TR) will have a field requirement to identify whether or not records proposed for accessioning contain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). 

Federal agency RM staff should review NARA’s guidance pertaining to Transferring Records Containing Controlled Unclassified Information into NARA’s archival holdings. This guidance is now available via the Accessioning Guidance and Policy page, and directly through the Transferring Records Containing Controlled Unclassified Information page.
