Pack your bags and bring your appetite! Join children’s author Kelly Young-Silverman for a special family storytime featuring Hot Boiled Peanuts: A Georgia Food Tour, a colorful journey through the foods, places, and traditions that make the Peach State special.
In Hot Boiled Peanuts, a child and her grandparents set off on a delicious road trip across Georgia, exploring the state from its bustling capital to its mountains and coast. Along the way, young readers discover some of Georgia’s best-known flavors, including peaches, pecans, fried chicken, shrimp and grits, barbecue, collard greens, okra, and, naturally, hot boiled peanuts! Playful rhymes and colorful illustrations by Georgia artist Courtney Strickland introduce children to the history, geography, landmarks, and culinary traditions found throughout the state.
Kelly Young-Silverman will read at the top of each hour from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21. Families are welcome to stop by for any of the readings and take their own tasty trip around Georgia.
And what would a reading of Hot Boiled Peanuts be without the real thing? Hot boiled peanuts will be available for guests to enjoy during the program.
Copies of Hot Boiled Peanuts: A Georgia Food Tour will be available for purchase in our museum store, and the author will sign books following the readings.
Come discover Georgia one page (and one peanut) at a time!
