On Monday night, the Foundation hosted The George Bush Foundation Lecture Series, presented by Wells Fargo, with three former members of President George H.W. Bushs staff to discuss their various works on the Presidents life. The speakers included Chase Untermeyer, author of When Things Went Right, John Sununu, author of The Quiet Man: The Indispensable Presidency of George H. W. Bush and Mary Kate Cary, executive producer of 41ON41. The trio shared personal stories and memories of working with President Bush, focusing both on the impact that he has had on our nation as well as the lighter side of his personality and humor that he is so well known for.View Video Find an Event

The George H.W. Bush Center to showcase hands-on display of Leonardo Da Vinci inventions


Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion includes over 30 actual-size working machines, as opposed to miniatures or static displays. The machines were designed by a modern team of scientists and artisans who using the same construction techniques employed during Leonardo's time.The exhibit is organized into four parts based on Leonardos study of the elements of nature and applied knowledge: earth, water, air and fire. Highlights include a revolving crane, a full-size armored tank (large enough for several visitors to explore inside), a working robot, and an oil press. Other displays include the auto feed hydraulic saw, the pillar lifter, floats for walking on water, the parachute and the machine gun.The exhibition is of particular interest to students and young audiences because it provides an engaging combination of education and entertainment in an experience that explores history, science, mechanics and physics, invention and innovation. College Station Noon Lions Club " I love America" Fourth of July celebration welcomes thousands of visitors


The College Station Noon Lions Club I Love America Fourth of July Celebration on the grounds of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum was a huge success. From 10,000 to 15,000 visitors came to enjoy all the festivities which included bounce houses, train rides, games, live entertainment, great food, the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra and an amazing fireworks show. Over 5,000 visitors took the opportunity to check out the museum free from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Find an Event

George H.W. Bush Center to Host School Threat Assessment and Violence Prevention Workshop


She participated in Governor Abbotts first round-table after the Santa Fe school shooting and SIGMA was named by the Governor to work with Texas School Safety Center to provide threat assessment training to Texas teachers, law enforcement professionals, mental health professionals, and others. The workshop will teach participants the federal school threat assessment model, originally developed by the US Secret Service and US Department of Education based on their research on school shooters.Mrs. Marble has extensive experience conducting as well as supervising threat assessment and protective intelligence investigations in schools as well as on high-profile public officials and public figures. She has also served as a senior supervisor on the Secret Service Presidential Protective Division and held the position of Director, Threat Policy Coordination/U.S. Secret Service Liaison on the National Security Council Counterterrorism office. Her background includes more than twenty-six years of experience managing political, integrity and security risks in complex and hostile environments. Mrs. Marble earned her Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Houston in 1987 and was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in January, 2011. Night at the Museum Celebration at the George H.W. Bush Center


In order to compete in the costume contest, participants must walk across the stage in the rotunda between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. The costume contest is divided into the following categories: ages 3 & under, ages 4-6, ages 7-9, ages 10-12, Best Family or Group and Most Original. There will be prizes in all categories, the top five winners of the childrens category and the top three winners of the best family/group and most original. Costumes will be judged in the Rotunda from 3-5 p.m., and the contest winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. on the plaza. You must be present to win.This event is free and open to the public. Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 2018


Join us as we light the George Bush Presidential Library Center's Community Christmas Tree! Modeled after the tree lighting ceremony that takes place annually on the White House grounds, the ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include musical entertainment and special guest tree lighters. Spy Pilot, Francis Gary Powers, the U-2 Incident, and a Controversial Cold War Legacy


One of the most talked about events of the Cold War was the downing of the American U-2 spy plane piloted by Francis Gary Powers Sr. over the Soviet Union on May 1, 1960. After being shot down Powers was captured by the KGB, subjected to a televised trial, and imprisoned - all of which created an international incident.Join us now for an exciting evening with author Francis Gary Powers Jr. as he explores the harrowing tale of his father's experience in the Cold War.Born June 5, 1965, in Burbank, California, he is the son of Francis Gary and Claudia SuePowers. Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from California State University, LosAngeles, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration / Certification in Non-profit Managementfrom George Mason University (GMU), Fairfax, Virginia.He will graduate this year with hisMasters Degree in U.S. History from Adams State University, Alamosa, CO.Gary is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of The Cold War Museum, a 501(c) (3) charitylocated at Vint Hill, VA 45 minutes west of Washington, DC. He founded the museum in 1996 tohonor Cold War veterans, preserve Cold War history, and educate future generations about this timeperiod.Recently, he consulted for a StevenSpielberg Cold War thriller, Bridge of Spies, about James Donovan who brokered the 1962 spyexchange between KGB spy Rudolph Abel and CIA U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers, Sr.After the program there will be a reception and book signing.
