Public Laws: Numbers for the Current Session of Congress

After a bill becomes a law, it is delivered to the Office of the Federal Register (OFR), where editors:

• assign a Public Law Number
• prepare it for publication as a Slip Law
• include it in the next edition of the United States Statutes at Large
