Respond

First steps to implement your Records Emergency Plan:

  • make sure the affected area is safe
  • assess and document the extent and type of damage
  • identify priorities and available resources
  • identify outside recovery advice and services needed
  • prepare an action plan

Federal agencies can find key information and points of contact for advice on Records Recovery, Records Emergency Disposal and Information Security.

Resources to help with assessment and action plans are found on the Recovery Procedures and Additional Resources pages.

The Contracting Records Recovery Services page will provide assistance with identifying what services you need, a contracting template, and a selection of available commercial vendors. This list is provided for information only, and inclusion should not be viewed as an endorsement of the quality of the vendor's services. Vendor's services may change over time, and direct interaction will confirm current capabilities.
