National Archives to Close Early on Monday,
June 19, 2006
Washington, DC…On Monday, June 19, the Center for the National Archives Experience (the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom, the Public Vaults and The Way We Worked exhibitions, the William G. McGowan Theater, and the Archives Shop) will close to the public at 2 PM. The Museum entrance, located on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, will reopen to the public at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 20. The National Archives will remain open to researchers (entrance on Pennsylvania Ave. NW) until 5 PM.
Museum hours
Museum spring hours (through May 26) are from 10 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week. Summer hours (from May 27 through Labor Day) are from 10 AM - 9:00 PM. Admission is free, and the Museum is open every day except December 25.
Research hours
The Microfilm and Central Research Rooms at the downtown building, and the Research Complex at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland, are open to the public Monday and Wednesday, 8:45 AM - 5 PM; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:45 AM - 9 PM; and Saturday, 8:45 AM - 4:45 PM.
These hours are the same year round. The research rooms are closed on Sundays and all Federal holidays. For additional research information, please call 1-866-272-6272. For free public programs and upcoming event information, call 202-357-5000 or visit www.archives.gov.
The National Archives is fully accessible. If you need to request an accommodation (e.g., sign language interpreter) for a public program please email public.program@nara.gov or call 202-357-5000 at least two weeks prior to the event to ensure proper arrangements are secured.
