A National Archives "American Conversation" with RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman

Washington, DC… Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein will host an "American Conversation" on Wednesday, June 14, at 7 p.m. with Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman for a discussion of his career and broad trends in American political life. In the spirit of bipartisanship, a leading spokesperson for the Democratic Party will offer the view from the Democratic side in a later "American Conversation" to be announced shortly.

This program is part of a new National Archives series of discussions on American history and identity. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Lynne Cheney, Lonnie Bunch, Ken Burns, and John Hope Franklin were featured in previous "American Conversations." Videos of past programs may be viewed on the National Archives web site.

Events in this series are held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC., located on the National Mall at Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW, and fully accessible. All programs in the "American Conversations" series are free and open to the public. Seating at this program is on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required. For more information or to request an accommodation (e.g., sign language interpreter) for a public program, please email public.program@nara.gov or call (202) 357-5000 at least two weeks prior to the event to ensure proper arrangements are secured.

Ken Mehlman has served as Chairman of the Republican National Committee since January 2005 and was National Field Director for Bush-Cheney 2000, working with the campaign leadership in all fifty states. From 2001 to 2003, he was White House Political Director.
