Employees Return to Work
Status Updates

Effective 9:00am EDT
Given the decreased threat level, Ron Hindman, Acting Archivist of the United States, has made the decision to reopen all NARA facilities and return to normal operations nationwide. All NARA employees should return to work today, but should remain at high alert and continue to check both the VNN and NARA websites for updates.
Effective 8:30am EDT
Acting Archivist Ron Hindman has directed all Washington-area National Archives employees to report to work today and return to normal operations. Employees should report to work:
- AI
- AII in College Park
- Federal Records Center in Suitland
This decision follows the Department of Homeland Security's lowering the threat level in the Washington area to orange, and President Bush's instruction that all Washington-area federal employees report to work today. All National Archives employees should remain at high alert continue to monitor the NARA web site and VNN.com for updates.
