Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: Dr. Shogan’s Introductory SAORM Letter

Last week, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen J Shogan sent an introductory message to the Senior Agency Official for Records Management (SAORM) community. While the message was directed to SAORMs, we also included each SAORM’s Agency Records Officer in the distribution to ensure the Archivist’s message was shared widely across the federal government.

In this message, Dr. Shogan reinforced the partnership between the SAORMs and NARA as crucial in the ongoing transition to a fully digital government for the 21st century. She also committed to strengthening NARA’s ability to preserve and make accessible the historically valuable records created by the federal government. 

In our office, we remain committed to these same goals and look forward to leading the partnership between the SAORM community and the new Archivist of the United States.
