MEMORANDUM TO FEDERAL AGENCY CONTACTS: Expiration of ERA Transfer Requests

Per NARA Bulletin 2014-05, all ERA Transfer Requests (TRs) created by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) expire 15 months after creation if they have not been proposed by agencies for accessioning by NARA.  We currently have over 8,000 NARA-created TRs in ERA in Draft status created before October 1, 2014, that are now expired and eligible for deletion.

Individual spreadsheets listing specific TRs were sent to agency records officers in April. The number of expired TRs varies for each agency; some agencies have no expired TRs.  If you are interested in which TRs are expiring, consult your agency records officer, or if you have access to ERA, you may also search ERA for TRs in Draft status created by NARA before October 1, 2014.

Should your agency wish to propose any of these expiring TRs to NARA for accessioning the target date for deletion has been extended until June 15, 2016.

Please contact the Annual Move Coordinating Group at annual.move@nara.gov if you have any questions.
