Declaration of Independence

In July 1776, fifty-six men from thirteen colonies risked everything and pledged “our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor” that we would achieve Independency as a country. Today, the Declaration of Independence, our nation’s most sacred document, is one of 9 billion records in the National Archives, and it is on display in Washington, D.C. If you can’t get to Washington to see the actual Declaration, you can freely print out a perfect scanned image of the original as your own National Treasure from the National Archives website. And you can even add your own signature to those of the 56 patriots.
