Visit the Washington, DC Area

Things to Do on Your Visit

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) invites individuals, families, and tour and community groups to discover our nation's archival heritage in the Washington, DC area and at our nationwide facilities.

Established in 1934, NARA serves as the official repository for all federal records judged to be of enduring value. Its holdings date from the 18th century to the present and include the famous Charters of Freedom—the original Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. For more information about NARA, visit What Is NARA?

Please note that tours and activities are also available in many of our NARA Nationwide Facilities. For complete information on nationwide NARA activities, please contact each facility directly.
