Congressional Correspondence related to the nomination of Brett M. Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court

Under the Presidential Records Act, 44 U.S.C. 2204 and 2205, Congress may request access to presidential records in the holdings of the National Archives . The correspondence below addresses this issue with respect to the nomination  of Brett M. Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. 

Kavanaugh served in the White House Counsel's Office and the White House Office of the Staff Secretary under the Administration of President George W. Bush. Presidential records related to that service are being reviewed and will be released on the George W. Bush Presidential Library's website.  

Additionally, Kavanaugh served as an Associate Independent Counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel Kenneth W. Starr during the Administration of President William J. Clinton. Records related to that service are covered by the Federal Records Act, and are in the holdings of the National Archives. These records are also being reviewed and released.
