Pope Francis died at age 88 on April 21, 2025, in Vatican City. He was born on December 17, 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and had been head of the Roman Catholic Church since March 13, 2013. During his visit to the United States in September 2015, he made stops in Washington, DC, New York City, and Philadelphia.
