eGMS Reach and Login.gov

What is eGMS Reach and who can use it?

Once your award is finalized, you will be able to log into and use NHPRC’s online grant management portal, eGMS Reach (or simply “Reach”). Prior to the award, you will correspond with NHPRC staff through email.

The primary Reach users are the Grant Administrator and the Project Director. However, each of them can appoint additional participants on the award, designating roles based upon their needed permissions.

How do I access eGMS Reach?

Several federal grantmaking agencies use eGMS Reach, but each agency uses a unique version. To access NHPRC’s system, be sure to navigate to reach.archives.gov

You will enter the site using your personal Login.gov account. Login.gov provides a common login mechanism across U.S. government websites and will allow you to link multiple email addresses that belong to you.

When you log in, Reach will review all the emails associated with your Login.gov account and then retrieve any awards that match. Therefore, every person who needs Reach access must provide NHPRC with an email address that exactly matches one on file with their Login.gov account.

The system is designed to authenticate each user’s identity and accurately record their actions on a federal award. NEVER share your login credentials or allow someone else to use Reach in your name. Accounts for shared teams (such as for a university’s sponsored research office) are not permitted.

What can I do in eGMS Reach?

All participants will have access to the award in Reach, but there are distinct permissions associated with each role. You will be able to tell if you can complete certain actions. For instance, if a pen icon is not visible next to a listed report within the Forms and Reports tab in Reach, then you do not have permission to submit that report.

Your team can use eGMS Reach to conduct all award management activities:

  • View official award documents: All participants will be able to view and download your award documentation in the Files tab.
  • Submit payment requests: The Grant Administrator and their delegates (“Submits Financial”) can navigate to the Payments tab and add a new request.
  • Submit performance reports: The Project Director, Co-Project Directors, or their delegate (“Submits Performance”) can submit performance reports in the Forms and Reports tab.
  • Submit financial reports: The Grant Administrator and their delegates (“Submits Financial”)  can submit financial reports in the Forms and Reports tab.
  • Send messages to NHPRC staff: All participants will be able to view and send award messages to NHPRC. When messages are sent, all recipients are notified, including your colleagues on the award and both your Program and Grant Officers at NHPRC. Never forward messages to other email addresses, as this may cause Reach messages to be flagged and rejected.

Where is the Report Schedule in eGMS Reach?

A PDF copy of your Report Schedule will be available in your Files. The schedule is also reflected on the Forms and Reports tab, where you will see live links for submitting each report when they are due.
