NHPRC Programs
Archival Projects
For projects that ensure online public discovery and use of historical records collections. Grants are awarded to eligible archival repositories to arrange or re-house and describe collections, convert existing description for online access, create new online finding aids, or digitize collections and make them freely available online. A grant is for one or two years and for up to $150,000, and the NHPRC currently funds 10-15 projects each year.
Publishing Historical Records in Collaborative Documentary Editions
For projects to publish documentary editions of collections of historical records. Grants are awarded for collecting, describing, preserving, compiling, transcribing, annotating, editing, encoding, and publishing documentary source materials online and in print. A grant is or up to $125,000, and NHPRC currently makes between 20 and 24 grants each year.
State Board Programming Grants
For projects that strengthen the nation’s archival network through activities undertaken by state historical records advisory boards. Grants are for funding archival projects and supplies, coordinating training opportunities for archivists, and helping local organizations preserve their own archives. Grants are for two years and up to $125,000, and NHPRC funds 20 projects each year.
