National Archives Holds Free Records Programs in January and February

In January and February, the National Archives holds research and genealogy programs highlighting records from its holdings. These programs are free and open to the public, and will be held at the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Many of the programs will be live streamed on the US National Archives YouTube Channel. The building is Metro accessible on the Yellow and Green lines, Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station.

Online Resources Relating to American Indians
Thursday, January 14, at 2 p.m.

Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW
Meg Hacker, Archives Director of the National Archives at Fort Worth, highlights online resources available relating to American Indians. This special program will be live streamed from Fort Worth into the McGowan Theater, and on YouTube. Video | Captioning | Presentation

"Help! I'm Stuck" Genealogy Consultation
Saturday, January 23, noon–4 p.m.
Microfilm Research Room, Research Center

Attendees should use the 700 Pennsylvania Avenue entrance.

National Archives Innovation Hub, U.S. History, and You
Wednesday, February 10, at 2 p.m.

Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW
National Archives Innovation Hub Coordinator Dina Herbert, will introduce the Innovation Hub and explain how the public can help innovate by scanning Federal documents to add to the National Archives online catalog. Presentation materials will be available online.

Genealogy Research Using the U.S. Congressional Serial Set
Thursday, February 25, at 2 p.m.

Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW
Chief Librarian Jeffery Hartley will discuss the U.S. Congressional Serial Set and how to use this resource for family history research. His presentation will include African American genealogy, and he will show how to use the digital version of the Serial Set. Presentation materials will be available online.

Free Records Talks on YouTube
Know Your Records has made available online extensive videos, handouts, and presentations from our live programs. Learn how to do research at the National Archives using Federal holdings including census, immigration, and military service, and pension records. See the Know Your Records playlist.

2015 Virtual Genealogy Fair Sessions Now Online!
The National Archives hosted a live, two-day, virtual Genealogy Fair via webcast on YouTube, October 21 and 22, 2015. Revisit this popular event online. Speakers included genealogy experts from National Archives locations across the nation. Video recordings and handouts for all ten sessions are available.
