Memorandum to Federal Records Management Contacts: 2026 Annual Move of Permanent Records Follow-up

This communication is for federal agencies storing permanent records in NARA's Federal Records Centers (FRCs). As a follow-up to AC 01.2026 2026 Annual Move of Permanent Records, this communication updates the established timeline and extension for processing Transfer Requests (TRs) in ERA. 

Revised Timeline for Processing Transfer Requests in ERA

• January 31: Deadline for agencies to propose TRs
• March 31: NARA will make an approval decision on proposed TRs
• Second through Third Quarter: Approved records transfers will be moved during this period and will be removed from agency billing no later than June 30th.
